As early as the Middle-Ages, a hospital was built to exploit the medicinal springs located at the foot of Gell\u00e9rt Hill; during the Turkish occupation, baths were also added.<!--more--> The new structure, raised in the 17<sup>th<\/sup> century, was named S\u00e1ros-f\u00fcrd\u0151 (Muddy-Baths), after its muddy pond, to which therapeutic powers were attributed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Gell\u00e9rt Baths, consisting of the baths and the hotel, was built between 1912 and 1918, in the Secessionist style.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The 13 mineral springs supplying the Gell\u00e9rt Baths with water at a temperature varying between 27\u00b0C and 48\u00b0C, is particularly effective in treating joint and muscle damage, metabolism related problems and neuritis.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Besides the medicinal baths, there are also effervescent bath \u2013 as well as an outdoor swimming pool featuring a wave machine which operates for 10 minutes every hour.
